Regular screening, beginning at age 45, is the key to preventing colorectal cancer and finding it early. However, you may need to be tested earlier than 45, or more often than other people, if you have—
 -Inflammatory bowel disease such as Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis.
-A personal or family history of colorectal cancer or colorectal polyps.
-A genetic syndrome such as familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP)external icon or
hereditary non-polyposis colorectal cancer (Lynch syndrome).

 

Short of doing direct colonoscopy screening for the entire at-risk population, the FOBT currently is the best available method of identifying asymptomatic, average-risk people most likely to benefit from colonoscopy. A direct colonoscopy is a more effective screening method than a FOBT test however colonoscopy probing is more invasive. The FOBT test allows you to test in the comfort of your own home.

If your fecal occult blood test result is positive, your doctor may recommend a test to examine the inside of your colon, such as a colonoscopy. Please contact your MD if results are positive.

This product comes with two tests. Each can only be used once. The expiration date will be stamped on the box upon receipt. It is usually 24 months.
